Connaught Plaza Restaurants Private Limited’s McDonald’s India – North and East launched a new brand film on Raksha Bandhan to celebrate the sweet and sour moments in sibling relationships. The film is conceptualized and executed by DDB Mudra Group, and beautifully portrays moments of happiness, joy, fun, and love while a brother-sister duo celebrates Raksha Bandhan, bonding over their shared love for McDonald’s.

The film takes viewers through the ‘teekha-meetha’ (sweet-sour) moments that siblings share. It opens with the Rakhi ceremony being carried out by the siblings. The brother is busy looking into his phone while the sister puts ‘tikka’ on his forehead and pulls his nose. Then there is a sweet moment when the sister ties the ‘rakhi’ a little too tight to get the brother’s attention, expecting a gift when it’s done.

As a gift, the brother extends the McDelivery bag, making the sister smile. He goes on to tease her by popping the bag. He hands her a burger, and they both go on to unwrap their burgers. Right before taking a bite together, the sister asks, “you didn’t order Peri Peri Fries?” Seeming as though he is caught, he pulls out the fries and passes the bag to her. They share sweet moments enjoying the McDonald’s meal together.

Rajeev Ranjan, the Chief Operating Officer of McDonald’s India said that Raksha Bandhan is the most beautiful occasion for siblings. The joy of the sibling bond is unique and unparalleled, and McDonald’s wanted to capture moments of that joy that siblings share and bond with each other. McDonald’s hopes that its customers continue to celebrate such special occasions with it.

Anuragh Gopinath, Group Creative Partner at DDB Mudra, said that real Rakhi celebrations are full of candid moments. The brother and the sister are playful yet loving. The story of the film captures the same, with McDonald’s portraying Rakhi moments beautifully.
