Mindshare South Asia’s Chief Digital Officer, Vinod Thadani, has resigned. Thadani is expected to join a leading rival agency soon, according to reliable sources. In May 2014, he began working for GroupM’s flagship media agency, Mindshare. He was appointed as Chief Digital Officer-South Asia in 2018.

Mindshare is a multinational media and marketing services business founded in 1997. Mindshare, being one of the world’s leading media agencies, is responsible for the vast bulk of Group M/global WPP’s marketing billings and campaigns. Mindshare’s accomplishments include the Dove Natural Women and Snapchat Hack campaigns, as well as becoming the first Global Media Agency to be recognised as a Google channel partner.

The firm was formed by the merging of JWT’s media operations with Ogilvy & Mather’s, the two largest full-service advertising agencies within the WPP Group. The launch team included O&M’s Mandy Pooler and Nick Emery, as well as JWT’s Ron de Pear and James Walker. Initially, the American agency parent GroupM was staunchly opposed to the combination. Mindshare has over 10,000 workers spread throughout 115 locations in 82 countries across North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Asia Pacific.

Thadani has media experience of over two decades. Before heading to Mindshare South Asia, Thadani served in the joint venture between WPP and Madhouse China as Chief Executive Officer for Madhouse India and played a critical role in establishing India’s largest mobile branding and promotion firm.

Recently, Gopu Menon serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Isobar India, while Thadani serves as the Chief Digital Officer of Mindshare South Asia. Chief Operating Officer Gopu Menon has opted to leave Dentsu’s digital firm Isobar after more than 12 years and will join Mindshare. Vinod Thadani, Chief Digital Officer, Mindshare South Asia, is joining Isobar, according to reports. Although it appears that the two agencies have swapped places, neither Thadani nor Menon’s new designations at their respective new agency are yet revealed. Menon became Director of Isobar in August 2009. He rose through the ranks of the company, holding positions such as Business Head, AVP, VP, and EVP until becoming Chief Operating Officer in 2019.

Dentsu India is likely to join Vinod Thadani, Chief Digital Officer, Mindshare – South Asia, who left office earlier this year. Thadani is expected to manage a significant digital portfolio at the group level according to credible sources. The specific information about his duties is, however, closely covered. “It’s still many more days with Mindshare, and only in the middle of August he should join the new agency,” stated a senior manufacturer.”
