Will Xiaomi’s Mi TV Stick takes on the likes of Amazon Fire Stick?


Xiaomi Global Ecosystem Product Launch serves as the platform where Xiaomi makes a number of announcements and unveils new products including products such as the Mi Smart Band 5 and the Mi TV Stick.

The event is scheduled to be live-streamed at 5:30 PM IST on Wednesday, July 152020, with Xiaomi’s official Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Mi Community accounts hosting the streams live. Ahead of the launch, Xiaomi has teased the event a number of times and confirmed that it will launch the Mi Smart Band 5 and Mi TV Stick the at the event

Xiaomi has launched a number of products at Global Ecosystem Product Launch event for the year. Xiaomi announced few products that are entirely new and also made some products global, that it had previously launched in its Chinese market. Xiaomi unveiled Mi TV Stick, the global variant of Mi Band 5 and a new pair of Mi True Wireless earphones.

Mi TV Stick was first revealed during the Xiaomi’s launch event in Germany, Where the Mi TV Stick wasn’t fully revealed, the presentation is only with the slide of the device, with its name and design available for public glare.

Mi TV Stick is the standout announcement of Xiaomi Global Ecosystem Product Launch. The Mi Stick TV is a small dongle and comes to the market as a portable streaming device to take on the likes of Amazon Fire Stick. It is a streaming stick which is similar to that of Amazon Fire TV Stick. Mi TV Stick brings with 8GB of internal storage, I quad-core CPU and 1GB of RAM. The Mi TV Stick supports DTS surround Dolby sound and 1080p video output. It runs Android TV based on Android Pie. The device can plug into your TVs HMDI port and with a power cable to turn your TV into a smart TV and comes with support for apps like Amazon Prime Video and Netflix. There is no support for 4K resolution, only a 1080p version of the device is present. It is priced approximately Rs 3,400 for the single 1080p variant.
