Sunil Barthwal said that the government has endeavored to make the new labor laws as current as possible, according to Sunil Barthwal, Secretary (L&E), Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India, who added that the reality we live in should be reflected in them.

The government has made several initiatives to enhance women’s participation in the labor force.

“Unless women’s involvement improves, women’s contribution to GDP will not be as high as we want it to be,” Barthwal remarked at the virtual ’87th Annual General Meeting of AIOE’ on the theme “Impact of New Labour Codes on Sustainable and Equitable Growth

“We looked at labor rules from a variety of perspectives, including employers, workers, women, and youth, and the result is a healthy mix of different points of view.

When we consider the future of work, we must consider various employment models and how we can make all of them function,” he continued.

We are pursuing this with the states, according to Barthwal, because this provision is on the concurrent list of the constitution, and rules must be developed both at the federal and state levels.

“We have already published the rules at the central government level and are ready to apply the Code as soon as the state governments formulate their rules.” In terms of regulation notification and finalization, a growing number of states are emerging.

We must act quickly because everyone is eagerly awaiting the publication of these rules.”

The two guiding concepts on which the new Codes have been designed, according to Barthwal, are ease of living for workers and ease of conducting business for businesses. He emphasized the importance of the gig economy’s inclusion in labor legislation.

Consider the platform economy, which is a purely digital economy that is rapidly expanding.

He went on to say that India is one of the world’s three major platform economies. Mr. Barthwal went on to say that these improvements are critical to us and that we want the entire labor code to be inclusive.
