Actor Shahid Kapoor and Varun Ganjoo, the co-founder and marketing director of Baazi Games, discuss their latest advertising campaign. With actor Shahid Kapoor as their newly appointed brand ambassador, PokerBaazi.com debuted a new marketing campaign on July 1 called “You Hold the Cards.”

Poker is a sport, period, according to Varun Ganjoo, co-founder and marketing director of Baazi Games. Poker is a lot of fun as well. We are overjoyed that our campaign, “You Hold the Cards,” has officially begun, and we are happy that Shahid Kapoor will serve as our spokesperson. The main goal of this campaign is to raise awareness of poker as a sport of skill, which the brand film brilliantly illustrates. This is a significant step toward making poker a popular pastime in our nation. Although we are taking a digital-first approach, the campaign will still be pushed through all channels that are relevant to our target audience.

The brand’s “You Hold the Cards” campaign attempts to increase public awareness of poker as a skill-based game and to demonstrate that one can win at poker with talent, willpower, and the appropriate strategy.

“Anyone can play poker, is the premise. Poker continues to carry the stigma of exclusivity while being a staple of every Indian family. We thought Shahid was the ideal individual to reach out to a broad cross-section of viewers because he’s such a fantastic actor and has done so many varied parts in his career,” recalls Ganjoo, describing why the brand contacted the Bollywood star.

The campaign, created and conceptualised by Wieden+Kennedy, is being broadcast on a variety of platforms, including OTT, OOH, and social media.

With a casual gaming population that already exceeds the size of the entire population of the United States, India is one of the gaming marketplaces with the quickest growth rates in the world.

Poker tournaments are currently being streamed on various sports channels on TV in other countries, and a whole industry has been developed around it. That is the atmosphere we are attempting to create at Baazi Games. We want to demonstrate to people that poker is a sport like any other and that there is a lot of space for growth in the game. Ganjoo advises players to continue playing, improve, and practise.

PokerBaazi.com announced its association with Kapoor last week, which coincided with the platform recording a billion poker hands being played on its app since its launch in October 2014. “Now that we have signed a witness, we will communicate strongly with the fans.Without going into details, we will be releasing a lot of unique advertising content in the coming months as we reach out to different parts of the population and inform them about this exciting sport,” concluded Ganjoo.
