Fujifilm has just announced a new variant of its GFX series cameras, the GFX 100S, which is lightweight and 500 grams lighter than the GFX100. The new Fujifilm GFX 100S weighs 900 grams and offers high-quality stills and images. To make the latest GFX 100S lightweight and compact in size, Fujifilm revamped the shutter assembly, the in-body image stabilization unit, and the body structure, but did not touch the image sensor. The GFX 100S has the same camera as the GFX100, a 102-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor.

The GFX 100S packs a 102-megapixel CMOS sensor with 3.76 million phase detection pixels for quick and precise focus. Phase detection AF operates at-5.5EV in low light conditions. The AF speed of 0.18 sec is useful for sports photography and the capture of wild animals. The camera is fueled by the Fujifilm X-Processor 4 quad-core CPU for image and video processing. The GFX 100S is fitted with a 3.2-inch LCD with 2.36 million dots. The vari-angled touchscreen can be balanced in three ways. The camera can shoot 4K images up to 30FPS for video capturing capability.

Other capabilities include a high-resolution optical viewfinder, 5FPS continuous shooting, 6-stop in-body image stabilization, adjustable buttons, weatherproofing, and more. Using the NP-W235 battery, the camera can take 460 shots when fully charged. The Fujifilm GFX 100S will be available at the end of February. The camera arrives in the United States for $5,999.

During the Fujifilm X Summit Global 2021, Fujifilm unveiled a lightweight X-E4 camera with no in-body stabilization. The X-E4 has a 26.1-megapixel image sensor. The X-E4 is the most portable camera to support interchangeable lenses in the X-series. For video capture, the camera can film 4K videos with up to 30FPS and full HD videos with up to 240FPS. The company has also launched three new lenses: The GF 80mm F1.7 R WR lens, the XF 70-300mm F4-5.6 lens for X-mount users, and the F2.8 27mm lens.
