IRL dating is back – 61% of daters on Bumble in India want to explore

IRL dating is back, and single Indians are looking for original, innovative methods to arrange their in-person encounters, according to Bumble, the women-first dating app, and social networking site. In fact, according to a poll conducted by Bumble in India, more than 65 percent of daters said they now prefer to meet their potential matches or partners in person rather than simply online. Hobby dates have also become one of the dating trends to look forward to in 2022 as more people organize their IRL dates around their newly acquired abilities or hobbies.

A new study by Bumble reveals Indian singles’ IRL dating preferences and options:

  • Indian users of Bumble favor IRL dates after work. People’s interest in IRL dating in India has changed due to returning to jobs and institutions. After work or class, 46% of Bumble daters prefer to go on in-person dates. GenZ prefers in-person encounters more than Millennials (by 50%). (42 percent).
  • One in four Bumble daters in India prefers to allow their possible match or partner to determine how to plan an in-person date, compared to 51 percent of daters who like to make spontaneous decisions when choosing in-person dates.

IRL first date suggestions:

To get to know their online contacts on their first real-life dates, Indian daters choose various activities, such as eating out, taking pottery lessons together on the weekends, or looking for an adventurous date to go trekking.

According to a recent internal study by Bumble, when it comes to organizing their first IRL dates with a virtual acquaintance or potential love interest:

  • In India, 59 percent of Bumble daters prefer going out for drinks, while 77 percent prefer eating out.
  • Thirty-five percent of Indian Bumble daters want adventurous dates.
  • While 30% of daters on Bumble in India choose a hobby or skill-based activities, 75% have acquired new interests during the pandemic.
  • Most (61%) of Indian Bumble daters think most about trying out a new area or activity when deciding to go on an IRL date. The amount of effort put forth by a possible match or partner to schedule date is the most crucial aspect taken into account by Indian women using Bumble (51 percent) before deciding to embark on an actual in-person date.
