Sensorium Corporation, a virtual reality, and artificial intelligence company decide to develop a new VR social platform. This provides the users with a platform to attend virtual concerts, music festivals, and more during this pandemic.

As per Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov, owner of Sensorium Corporation, VR is a new form of art that provides the opportunity to watch favorite artists in space, not a stage, and also the absolute freedom to get as close as the user want.

In the first half of 2021, the platform called Sensorium Galaxy is to be launched. There are investments made by the entertainment company which is of worth $100 million. The company did not disclose the musicians who are going to perform on this platform. Prokhorov is not the only billionaire betting on virtual reality even though it is still nascent, and an unproven business.

Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook bought virtual reality hardware company Oculus on $2 billion during 2014. Early this year Facebook launched a VR platform called Facebook Horizon which is open to a select group of beta users.

According to Prokhorov, people’s world seems to be limited by a tiny screen but virtual reality can change that limitation. A combination of artificial intelligence with virtual reality using emerging technologies can provide users with an opportunity to fix the current situation. This combination can broaden digital communications by building a new generation of virtual environments for social connections. One of the goals of the company is to achieve digital immortality.

Due to the spread of COVID-19, the concert industry has cratered as the shows and festivals canceled around the globe to curb the spread. To hold socially-distanced live shows through some efforts were taken in many countries. Attendees were separated on 500 raised metal platforms in Chicago’s drive-in concerts to socially distanced shows in northern England. However, the majority of live shows have been postponed.

A loss of up to $8.9 billion in revenue for the live industry can happen this year if the current situation continues. Sensorium Galaxy’s timeline is also impacted because of the pandemic with minor delays in terms of development.

Using a VR headset and a personal computer, the users can also chat and play games among other features. The company considers virtual worlds as a part of an evolution of human communication and people shouldn’t feel scared about it.
