IBM to bolster AI Centre of Excellence

During the AI Submit Responsible for social Empowerment (RAISE), the CEO of IBM Corp has made an announcement on setting up the Centre of Excellence (CoE). The interesting thing about this announcement is that the AI-enabled Centre of Excellence will be set up in partnership with the Government e-Marketplace (GeM).

AI is considered to be one of the biggest revolutions form the field of technology. Artificial Intelligence has been used in various industries to boost up the business. It has the potential to improve the livelihoods of millions of people living around the world. AI is primarily used to boost economic growth as it is slated to unlock $15.7 trillion in productivity by 2030.

 Talking about the AI applications, In India, IBM has collaborated with the Karnataka State Government and NITI Aayog to upgrade technologically in the field of agriculture. With the combination of AI and weather data, the technology helps in providing better decision making for farmers. AI potential is not only limited to agricultural applications rather it has humongous potential in the field of the education sector as well. Krishna talks high about AI’s applications in education to take care of time-consuming tasks. Ultimately these tasks can be automated with the help of Artificial Intelligence. IBM further leaves its footmark in the higher school of education. In earlier July, IBM has collaborated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to deploy AI into the curriculum of High school. Under their process, 200 schools across India are chosen for this integration.

Looking into a global perspective, AI contributes to 4% only. Its potential is not exhaustively identified or used so far. IBM suggests that India should focus on AI to reap its massive benefits. Data, Trust, and Skills are the three potentials that drive AI. IBM is showing its interest in investments related to the scope of AI. It is investing with the aim of addressing the massive skills shortage in Artificial Intelligence. IBM STEM is an initiative exclusively for girls to train them and built them potentially in coding. They are teaching around 80,000 girls across India bolstering them in coding and in building AI models. Their milestone is to reach 2,00,000 students by the year 2022.
