Walt Disney’s new chairman Mark Parker: announced by the board of directors

The Walt Disney company’s board of directors elected independent director Mark G Parker as the chairman of the board.

The Walt Disney company’s board of directors elected independent director Mark G Parker as the chairman of the board. And it was announced by the board of directors of Walt Disney in the annual meeting of shareholders. Mr. Parker- executive chairman of NIKE and seven years member of the Disney board succeed Susan E. Arnold. The size of the board of members will be reduced by 11 members because Susan E. Arnold will not stand for re-election under 15 years term limit which falls under Disney’s board tenure policy. 

Mark Parker has helped the company effectively and efficiently through a time of unprecedented change, over his seven years as a Walt Disney director. Mr. Arnold said during his four decades at NIKE, Mark led a successful CEO transition and recognized consumers brand through many various Market evolutions. Mark Parker looks forward to continuing working with him in his new role with the other directors of the company.

On behalf of his fellow board members and the entire Disney management team, he also wants to thank Mr. Susan for her superb leadership as a chairman and her tireless work over the past 15 years. Mr. Parker was honored to have the opportunity to serve as Disney’s new chairman. He also looks forward to working closely with his management team and Bob on a strategy of growth that balances investment with profitability, while preserving the company’s mission of creative excellence to provide shareholder value. 

The top priority of Mr. Parker and board members is to prepare and identify a successful CEO successor he says and that process has begun already. When Mr. Parker became executive chairman, he also served as NIKE’s chairman and CEO until 2020. Today’s Disney directors bring innovations and experiences across various and relevant ranges of disciplines including innovation and technology, direct-to-consumer expertise, retail and Marketing, and brand. Helping to drive the shareholders’ value Walt Disney remains open to contributing ideas and engagement. The Walt Disney Company has had creative and financial success over the long-term track.
