The OnePlus 9 series may be in for a significant update. Looking at the ongoing rivalry, OnePlus has to buckle up as the flagships are projected to change considerably this year. Also, OnePlus wants to work around pricing their smartphones as they may compete with iPhone 13 mini, Pixel 6, Samsung Galaxy S21, and Sony Xperia Compact 2021 pricing. This will be a fascinating fight, as the 2021 best smartphones can see.

The OnePlus 9 lineup will replace the OnePlus 8 series in the coming months. The OnePlus 9 series will have a 6.5-inch while the 9 Pro will have a bigger 6.78-inch QHD+ AMOLED screen. The monitor would also provide support for a refresh rate of 120Hz, which should be scalable based on the form of material being displayed. The rear of the device can have a glass finish as seen in the previous OnePlus flagships. We can also see a rectangular camera module that houses a quad-camera rig and a laser autofocus sensor.

The device is anticipated to be powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 888 SoC. It is an octa-core chipset based on a 5nm manufacturing process. The chipset is clocked at 2.84GHz and combined with Adreno 660GPU. The chipset is bundled in Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X60 5G modem with WiFi 6E/6 and WiFi 5 compatibility. The Spectra 580 ISP image signal processor built on this SoC is supposed to improve image processing by a very wide margin.

OnePlus 9 line-ups to launch in three separate RAM and storage versions, just like OnePlus 8. Basic edition with 6GB RAM/128GB non-expandable storage and the other two with 8GB/256GB and 12GB/256GB RAM and non-expandable storage. The OnePlus 9 is supposed to have a quad-camera configuration in the camera department. It also features 48-megapixel main sensor, a 48-megapixel ultrawide sensor, and a third hidden sensor. The device will get a 16-megapixel selfie camera on the edge. The OnePlus 9 Pro is IP68 approved. This means that the device will survive for up to 30 minutes if it is immersed in 1.5m deep water.

OnePlus has consistently increased the price of its flagship smartphone to the extent that it is no longer a flagship killer. Looking at the latest rates for OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, the devices to be made available at 54,999 and 59,999 respectively.
