Zee Media Corporation Limited, owned by Essel group is India’s biggest news network with a mission to Inform, Entertain and Empower. It has 14 news channels in 6 different languages, 200+ million viewers, 11 digital properties, and 60+ million monthly unique visitors. The company has appointed a new Chief Operating Officer (COO) for digital business.
Abhishek Nigam, the newly appointed COO was a dedicated employee and leader at some of the most successful companies like Airtel, Times Internet, and, Jagran Group. He completed his studies at top Indian and International universities, namely – IIT Delhi, IIM Calcutta, and Stanford. His career started with being a software engineer at Cerner Corporation, an IT and services company; skipping few years and he was the Head of Product at Jagranjosh.com, an online B2C transactional education platform of Jagran group, later, Product Head for digital/ML products at Times Internet and Product Head for B2C platform at Airtel. And, finally to the present to where he is the Chief Operating Officer of Zee Media.
The Zee Media strongly believes in Nigam’s capabilities to handle the position because of his experience of about 15 years in the sales, technology, and product sectors. Bibek Agarwala, Group Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer at Zee told the press that despite many challenges faced by the company in the past three/four years, Zee Digital has seen exponential growth through strategic communications and advanced technology. And for the future the company is expecting tremendous growth which will help in increasing as well as maintaining the company’s status in the digital ecosystem and Nigam will definitely speed up this process.
Regarding his new position and role, Abhishek Nigam commented – “My endeavor would be to help Zee Media scale new heights across the globe by aligning all the digital assets and bringing in synergies through strategic measures and latest technological innovations.”
He also stated that Zee Digital Media provides authentic, unbiased, and true, verified content across all genres to an audience across the globe, the content produced is user-centric which is why the audience understands and relates to it quickly. He is optimistic about his new position and is ready to give his all to benefit the company.
